Hockey Director, Aria Health Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia
To say Eric Semborski has experienced a hockey career unlike any other would be an understatement.
Eric grew up in Bloomsburg, PA and played junior hockey for the Jersey Wildcats in the NA3AHL. Eric then attended Temple University, where he served as a goaltender for Temple University's club hockey team. Eric posted a .893% save percentage in 22 games his senior year with Temple.
While at Temple, Eric interned with the Philadelphia Flyers in customer service and with Snider Hockey as an on-ice instructor. Eric graduated with a degree in Sport Management in December 2015.
Upon graduation, Eric Semborski was hired by Flyers Skate Zone as the Hockey Programs Coordinator in Voorhees.
He was coaching on the ice at Voorhees on December 3, 2016, when he was asked out of the blue to get his goalie equipment and head to the Wells Fargo Center. 90 minutes later, Eric was taking warmups with the Chicago Blackhawks, as he was signed to a one-day amateur tryout contact to serve as the emergency backup goaltender for the day. (He replaced Corey Crawford on the roster, who had come down with appendicitis that morning.)
Eric's story became newsworthy both in Philadelphia, Chicago, and throughout the hockey world. Eric appeared in feature stories in USA Today and NHL.com, and appeared on the Preston and Steve Show, CBS 3, and CSN Philly in Philadelphia, along with CSN Chicago.
In March 2017, Eric was promoted to Hockey Director at the Aria Health Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia, where he brings his playing and instructional experience to lessons and programs at the rink.
